Scouts and scouting

scoutsFor over a hundred years the Scout Association has been giving young people everywhere the chance to challenge themselves to reach new heights of achievement in outdoor and indoor activities and mental and emotional understanding.  Far from being a club for older boys, the Scouts now offer the opportunity to join their prestigious and highly-regarded institution to girls and boys up to adult age, making it a great way for kids to make friends, gain new experiences, and learn to work as a team.  It's hard to believe such a successful world-wide organization had it's beginnings in a manual for young boys written all those years ago.  Initially intended to develop young people into highly valued members of the community, the Scout Association is now regarded as one of the best ways to encourage the growth and development of children into well adjusted and respectable adults.

Far from being a one-trick-pony, the Scouting organization has a large variety of specialized units which cater to those interested in particular activities or who fall into a particular age category. From the Explorer Scouts to the Girl Guides, the Beavers to the Air Scouts, the Sea Scouts to the plain old Cub Scouts, there should be an attractive solution for just about any child interested in joining the Scouting fold.  If you or your child is looking to broaden your horizons and really give yourself a fun and educational experience, the Scouts could be just what you're looking for.

As the world changes, the Scouts Association has done it’s utmost to evolve with it, and today the organization is proud to encourage not only outdoor survival skills and camping challenges, but technological and scientific knowledge and an understanding of wider community issues – such as global conservation.  Their aim is to provide members with a well-rounded understanding of the world and the many skills they will need, and challenges they will face, as they progress through society.  If you are looking for an opportunity to broaden your child’s horizons, the Scouts Association is definitely the place for you!
